Introduction:

The managers and coaches of Moosup Little League (MLL) are entirely made up of volunteers. These volunteers are usually, but not required to be,parents of players in the league. Each team should consist of a manager, two coaches and a team mother. Prospective managers and coaches are asked to fill out a volunteer form,a manager coach application and a manager questioneer.Coaches do not have to have a child in the league to be eligible. The player agent, coaching coordinator and league president (or other committee formed by league president) will form a list of potential coaches for the different divisions. These canidates will be interviewed by the Coaching Coordinator and his committee and if approved will be eligible to be appointed to said position. The President will then nominate managers ,which will then be voted on by the league Board of Directors as per Article VII Section 2 k of the MLL Constitution.

Volunteer Application:

All Managers, Coaches and volunteers will be required to provide a copy of their drivers license along with the completed volunteer application. It is the managers responsibility to have ANY volunteer on his/her team who has consistent contact with the players fill out a volunteer application. Forms are to be given to the player agent for submission to a background check. This is a Little League Baseball rule and failure to abide can and will result in disciplinary action.

Training

Once the Board of Directors votes in each manager and coach, usually by the end of February, they will be notified. Mandatory training will be required of each manager and his staff. The training will be provided by the leagues coaching coordinator and his committee. It may consist of clinics given by outside groups, use of internet resources and classroom work or any combination there of. The cost of any training will be absorbed by MLL.

Tryouts & Draft

Once the managers have been set,MLL will conduct its annual player evaluations (tryouts) and draft. All registered players league age 9-15 not already assigned to a LL or JL team and players league are 7-8 not assigned to a farm system team are required to tryout.Little League age players (9-12)who do not tryout are ineligble to be drafted onto a Little League team and will be placed on a farm system team.Immediately after the player evaluations, the managers and the leagues player agent will convene to hold the Little League draft.Managers will draft as many players as needed to,along with the returning players ,fill their roster to capacity, usually 12 or 13 players. The player agent ensures that all teams are balanced and has the last say on all draft picks. All players not selected to a Little League team will then go into the farm system draft. At the conclusion of the draft managers will recieve player contact and medical information for each player on their roster. All players should be contacted within 48 hours of being drafted. At the conclusion of the draft, the managers will give their choices of two coaches to the player agent or coaching coordinator. These coaches will then,if approved, be officially appointed by the league president. Practices may then begin with the approval of the league president..
